another dumb question

I am getting ready to hook up the brakes on the burb. I converted to disk brakes and I have the master as well as the proportioning valve from a 71. There are two outlets on the valve one comes out the back, and one out the bottom. my question is which is front and which is rear brakes?

I think the back may be for the front. Maybe someone else can confirm. If you search I know there was a thread earlier about this.

The large port is for the Disc Brakes, the small port for the rear wheel cylinders.

I always thought the proportional was to reduce the amount going to disc since they didn't need as much pressure.

This is 1/2 ton setup. front to disc rear to drums. 3/4 tons are different. John

If you remember your physics classes back in hi school or college you'll recall Pascal's law which states P=F/A where P is pressure, F is force and A is cross-sectional area the force acts on. A = the volume of fluid. Disc brakes (calipers) have a larger volume than the volume of the rear wheel cylinders, hence the larger brake line. I hope this helps.
