another dumb question
I am getting ready to hook up the brakes on the burb. I converted to disk brakes and I have the master as well as the proportioning valve from a 71. There are two outlets on the valve one comes out the back, and one out the bottom.

I think the back may be for the front. Maybe someone else can confirm. If you search I know there was a thread earlier about this.

The large port is for the Disc Brakes, the small port for the rear wheel cylinders.

I always thought the proportional was to reduce the amount going to disc since they didn't need as much pressure.

If you remember your physics classes back in hi school or college you'll recall Pascal's law which states P=F/A where P is pressure, F is force and A is cross-sectional area the force acts on. A = the volume of fluid. Disc brakes (calipers) have a larger volume than the volume of the rear wheel cylinders, hence the larger brake line. I hope this helps.
