adding power steering.......
to a truck that didn't come with it.
I got the gear box, pulley and pump and the bracket necessary to install it. My question is, with a 327 V8 motor what size belt should I get or should I just do the string method and measure it that way? Any ideas and if anyone had ISSUES when installing pwer steering in their truck, let me know. |
Installing the power steering is pretty straight forward. If you have a truck setup with short waterpump, you should be able to just buy the belt for the year truck.
If you are not sure of the year, pick a year and try it. The parts store where I shop has no problem with exchanges so if I miss on the first try then they will exchange the belt for me adding or subtracting the difference. Hopefully you have a parts store that will understand. I think that wrong belts are fairly common so it should not be too big of an issue. Jim |
cool, thanks

i asume that this is on your 67. one issue that you could run into it if the frame has the relief in it for the power steering box or not. also you will have to notch that bumper bracket

i think all 67s didnt have it, and half of the 68 didnt have it either.now that i think of it there might be a intermediate shaft difference too that can be changed
