Q-Jet Problems

Just started yesterday. Symptoms: won't start, leaking fuel onto the intake manifold.

Even and temporary fix would help (I'm going to pull the motor anyhow), just to get the thing into the garage.

Any idea where on the carb the leak is?

It appears to be coming out the top...hard to tell for sure though. I got it running (barely) but it died just as I was pulling in the garage and it wouldn't start (flooded).

Could be a bad float or some debris is preventing the inlet needle from seating. Sounds like it might be time for a new float at the very least...

If it is coming out the vent, it is may be a saturated float or debris like Brandon said.
I don't know if it's a daily driver or what but if you have the time, pull that thing off and check it out. I was kind of intimidated by all the parts in the quadrajet, but if you read a manual as you go you can really get an understanding of whats going on.

Try tapping the carb inlet area with the plastic handle of a big screwdriver. Sometimes it will dislodge the offending float & get it working normally again.

Thank everyone for the help. I ended up getting it to run (barely) long enough to get it in the garage (where I'm tearing it down for resto anyhow).
