Q-Jet Problems
Just started yesterday. Symptoms: won't start, leaking fuel onto the intake manifold.
Even and temporary fix would help (I'm going to pull the motor anyhow), just to get the thing into the garage. |
Any idea where on the carb the leak is?

It appears to be coming out the top...hard to tell for sure though. I got it running (barely) but it died just as I was pulling in the garage and it wouldn't start (flooded).

Could be a bad float or some debris is preventing the inlet needle from seating. Sounds like it might be time for a new float at the very least...

If it is coming out the vent, it is may be a saturated float or debris like Brandon said.
I don't know if it's a daily driver or what but if you have the time, pull that thing off and check it out. I was kind of intimidated by all the parts in the quadrajet, but if you read a manual as you go you can really get an understanding of whats going on. |
Try tapping the carb inlet area with the plastic handle of a big screwdriver. Sometimes it will dislodge the offending float & get it working normally again.

Thank everyone for the help. I ended up getting it to run (barely) long enough to get it in the garage (where I'm tearing it down for resto anyhow).
