bad wheel hop driving my lwb 70 K-10
What are some cures for my bad wheel hop? I've had this truck for years and when the hot 355 went in the problems started. with the 3.07 open rear end I would one wheel hop down the street. I then installed a locker with 4.10 gears. The problem compounded to two wheel hop. Shaking the whole rear end pretty vioently.
I can try not to abuse my rig and lay off the skinny pedal. But its fun lighting it up. I know my rig isn't built like a drag car. But some ladder bars or something would help. I don't want to comprimise clearence as i drive on trails. what do you think? thanks |
I have added leaf spring u-bolts to limmit axle wrap in the past, also make sure your shocks and bushings are in good working order. Wheel hop has ruined alot of drive train parts in my truck so be carefull. My wheel hop problems are cured now that I invested in new skyjacker leafsprings. Good luck

Do you have blocks in the rear? sounds like you need traction bars to limit axle rotation and not effect articulation.

I don't have the rear end lifted with blocks. Just stock hieght. Last year I put brand new Pro-Comp es3000 shocks on. No help. I'm looking at tracktion bars but they hang way to low. What about this?
out of four wheeler mag- this is on a 1970 badass blazer. Rear grunt comes from a swapped GM corporate 14-bolt axle with a Detroit Locker and 4.56 gears. Custom ladder bars were installed to prevent wheelhop and axlewrap. |

that rear is definetly not a 14Bff, looks like my corporate axle, pre-14BFF. I've seen several companys that make traction bars that extend up from the top of the axle tube and attach to a new crossmember that extends from the top of the frame, therefore nothing extends down, one had a shackle at the frame end.

Blackbirds trucks do traction bars. Look up member drink2mny he can help ya.
