68 with 74 c member brake line ?

I have a 68 pickup with a cross member off of a 74 and I dont know what brake lines to order. Should I order the lines for a 74 front end and front to rear lines for a 68 or what. I know someone has ran into this problem with all the crossmember swaps folks are doing.

I am using the lines form a 73 with my 73-87 spindles. The hole is in the frame for them to run into. Go with the 73 up they should work out for you. They did for me.

I also used the 73-up style lines when I swapped to discs on my 68. I . . ....
  • mounted the prop-valve in the stock 73-up location
  • slightly tweaked the lines to better follow the framerail
  • spliced in to a factory union under the pass side of the cab
  • used the factory holes in the frame & the 73-up brake hoses/clips

I did need to space the prop-valve about a 1/4" away from the splash apron for a better fit on the lines as they entered the valve (I used over-sized nuts as spacers).

I did the same on brakes on my 69, all the pcs came from a 75 C10. I had to drill the holes in the frame for the brake hoses tho. after that, I used the master, lines , & prop valve from the 75(mounted in the same spot Scoti has his). I also used the '75 12bolt,along with the brakes on it. Mine is manual disc, so I couldnt say what mods need to be done for the later booster. best of luck, crazyL

You could prob use the later mstr.cyl/booster but I took the used ones that came w/my 'suspension clip' as cores for the correct 71-72 pwr disc booster & mstr cylinder. I figured the engineering had already been done, no sense re-inventing the wheel.
