intake fittings

I have found a vaccum fitting for my intake with the ports I need but have a few questions. First is the vaccum hole 3/8?(edlebrock air gap dont think it matters tho)

Second looks like the PO used some kind of goop silicon or something when I remove the old fitting and clean the hole what should I use to seal it (I was thinking plumbers tape or something.) And about how tight all the way in till very snug or just so long as it is in a fair bit?

Thanks for your help I know this may seem easy just never done it before.

No one seems like an easy question

Not sure on the first one, you could use any that provided enough vacuum.

I use teflon (plumber's tape) anytime I am working with vacuum or compressed air.

I guess on the first one what I mean is, is the threaded hole in the intake 3/8inch?

Careful not to over tighten the brass vacuum fitting in the aluminum intake as there's a good possibility of cracking the alum. casting. Just snug, maybe 20-25 in. lbs. and 3-4 threads left showing on the fitting. Nice choice in the Air Gap intake. My guess is 3/8 pipe thread. Oh, definitely use teflon tape.
