88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
How do 88-98 40/20/40 seats fit in our 67'-72' trucks? How about 99'-05' buckets? I found a nice leather one out of a 98' and was just what I want but I wanted to check and see how it would fit first. Thanks in advance

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
They fit like they're made for them. I want a 96-98 40/20/40 seat for my truck, but bought a 98 Tahoe/Suburban 2nd row seat in tan leather....because the price was right. Several of the board members have used this seat, and they look nice. They can't be adjusted, because they have no track. So, that's the down side. But, the seat bottoms can be pivoted upward, to reveal some handy-dandy storage space that you may need in the future. Add to that, the fact that they have seat backs which fold forward and also have a panel that will serve to hide the gas tank, in case you haven't relocated yours outside of the cab.
But, I really prefer the 40/20/40 seat. |

I just got seat like ChevloRay has. After I seen Putter's and Gman69's seats in there trucks that's what I went out and got.

I prefer the 88-98 style seats over the newer ones myself. I'm doing buckets though. They are from a 97 and will go in my 69 when I get the new cab ready to put on it.

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
I had wondered about Sub/Tahoe rear seats. They are usurally cheap, which is better.I'll see what I can work out on this front seat and if it doesn't work I may grab a rear seat. How close are the factory holes? Did you just drill new holes on the seat frame?

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
I Have a 89 or so seat, just a bench. I noticed the front holes line up but the back ones do not. And it sits too low. Any ideas?

Guess I'll chime in. I like the older seats because the seat back is a little lower and doesn't look big and goofy in the back window. I think the newer buckets cover a good bit of the back window. I have a 93 split bench in my truck. I like it a lot. THe headrests are small and the seat back is right at the bottom of the window.

Ditto on the '99 Suburban second rows. Same seats in original cab, and now in the replacement cab....

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
hey, 1967k30... i'd take a real close look at putter's last pic. your sig mentions you have a 4wd, so that usually means high hump (unless you've swapped it) and in putter's pic, looks like a high hump would prevent these seats from working. proceed with caution.
|
Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
So what is the option for a high hump 4x4. Has anyone "been there done that"?
|
Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
88-98 front bench/buckets, not the second row seats.
|
Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
Thanks for pointing that out.It doesn't look like a rear seat will work on a 4x4 or big hump truck. It seems that a 88'-98' front should.I had an 88'and a 97' and I think either seat would have worked. But just to be sure does anyone have a pic of a 4x4 with a 96+ 40/20/40 seat?

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
Here are 40/20/40 *edit they are probably 1999, not 1998, Silverado seats that I have in my K20.
http://yukon.b0xen.us/69chevy/seatsp9300004.jpg I am now using a low hump but when I mocked them up there was no interference with the high hump. I re-enforced the floor top and bottom to hopefully make the integrated seatbelts safe in relation to the floor. These seats sit you a touch higher and definitely closer to the dash. I don't have the gas tank behind the seats but that doesn't matter with how they sit. I am right at 6' and anyone taller might feel too cramped. I have the seat backs fairly straight to give me extra leg length. I like the seats, they are very comortable to me. |
Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
I picked up a set of nice lookin buckets and got lucky on them. The hole spacing front to back is the same as the 67-72 trucks. So I got my hands on another set of seat brackets and made a plate to go across the part that has 2 holes on the front They fit good and look pretty bad ass. As promised before, pictures will come as soon as I remember to get my camera.

Late model seats are one of the best mods you can do.

No, I mounted the stock brackets in the outer two stock front holes. Then I made a plate that nolted t the back two seat holes and extended forward to under where the newer brackest are. Drilled a hole through the bracket and floor, added a spacer (I used a 3/4-1/2 Plumper's Joiner Bushing- See second picture). Secrured with Grade 8 bolts and large washers under the floor panel. Now drive in comfort!!! |

Some Great looking seats in here . This is a 98 Silverado 60/40

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
Palf70Step, is that how everybody mounts the 88+ seats? I bought a set of 92 (I think) buckets and console, and have not mounted them yet, but they seem to fit nice with the seat slid all the way forward, and the bracket down behind that hump in the middle of the floor. I'd have to reinforce all 8 bolts and drill all new holes, but that doesn't bother me. Has anyone else done it this way?

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
I meant 40/60 is what I'm looking at,my bad. Those all look like they fit pretty good.Right now I have an 80' seat in mine and it didn't fit worth a crap.Had to fab all new brackets and it sits too close to the dash. I have the fuel tank behind the seat still and will probably leave it there but not sure yet.

Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
Bill
How do the 60/40 seats fit in your truck ? Were they a fairly somple bolt in ? I found a 89 with the same seat in it. Somone must have swaped a newer seat into the 89 but it's the seat I originally wanted. |
Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
I am actually running a set of those but in blue. They are very comfortable to ride around in.

They are about the same. Check out my web site, interrior pages. I had a set in mine for a bit. Mudpile...no some mount them the way you say on the flat of the floor. You'll need to do more bracing (IMO) if you do it that way. |
Re: 88-98 seats or 99'-05' seats
Too many Bill's in here
