BEST way to swap cabs by yourself?

Need to swap another truck cab.

Done this before by myself, but thought I'd ask, is there a best way to do this by yourself?

Thanks.

Without a chainfall, bobcat or forklift handy , a Cherry picker, 2x6 board through the windows and a 2" cargo strap :D

Re: BEST way to swap cabs by yourself?

I have a Case skidsteer and a boom pole. I built a sling using 2" straps that went through the windows in the doors. After I lifted the cab and placed it on the frame I noticed the tops of the door frames under the staps were slightly dimpled from the weight. Doors still seemed to work right. The next attempt I removed the doors and ran the straps from the sling under the cab. I lifted the cab onto 4x4's across the frame, then jacked the cab down onto the frame by hand.

I don't do this too often thought somebody might have a better way to do this than me.

Thanks.

i did mine with a cherry picker - worked out pretty well... the thing is just very akward and front heavy... once you get the chasis rolled out, and the cab lowered down, its not too bad...

I used camper jacks, worked like a charm.

It makes sense spreading the weight out as best as possible would be best...I'm not sure if it's okay to put a strap through the back window as long as theres no actual window. Same with windshield.

I've used camper jacks on a '80 Buick LeSabre body before. ElGracho is right.
Works Great.

a good shot of 300mg/ml IM of test prop/300mg tren acetate IM 3 hours before the time of lifting the cab:lol:

do that, and you can lift the truck and slide off the cab...

thats how we do it here:lol:

I have a two post pedestal lift, but a friend of mine took a 4X4 post and mounted it on TOP of his engine hoist and after he took the doors off of the truck he inserted the lift into the cab and raised the 4 X 4 up to the door frames and lifted the cab up. He had the post where it would swivel at the mounting point and he kept the cab level as he lifted it.
