85 mph vs. 100 mph Speedo
I've serach this and other forums.
I'd like to know if a 100 mph Speedo will work, correctly, where my 85 mph speedo is now. Will I need to re-gear at the tranny? Or??? Also, is it easy, or possible, to reset the odometer to my cuurent reading? As always, you're help is greatly appreciated. - Dave |
Re: 85 mph vs. 100 mph Speedo
i would assume the tranny gear would need to be changed as well and for the odometer reading it can be changed but a PITA

Re: 85 mph vs. 100 mph Speedo
The two interchange without any problems. Just unbolt the one, and bolt the new one in to replace it. Only difference is that the 85 mph speedos have an orange ring, and the 100 mph speedos have either a white or blue ring. If you change the gas gauge as well, thats no concern :)
You can change the odometer reading, but as 86 GMC mentioned, its a pain, lol |
Re: 85 mph vs. 100 mph Speedo
switch out to a complete older style cluster run hard line for oil pressure( so all match correctly) all you need to know is your tire size, tranny type, and your good. who knows you may be close . I went from 400 to a 700, 10 bolts with 373 to 4.56 in 14 bolt changed to c 50 cluster and was dead on when i went to have it calibrated.
