Replacing Oil Pan Gasket

Can I change my oil pan gasket with-out lifting the engine?
(1972 GMC, 2wd pick-up) Has anyone done this? I need to fix a minor leak.

I did it, so I assume you can too. I was a little tricky to manipulate the pan past the oil pump pick up, but it can be done. :)

I need to put a new oil pump in the 350, I hoped it wasn't gonna be too hard to get the pan off.

I've done this without removing the engine. I removed the bolts from the mounts, jacked up the engine, re-installed the bolts into the mounts and set the engine back down on the bolts. This left me enough room to get the pan off.

Its a pain doing it in the truck though.

If you can get a 1 piece gasket....much easier to install, is reusable, and almost surely won't leak.
