front driveshaft removal

how do you remove the front drive shaft on a 70 3/4t.....I am pretty sure its the dana 20 transfer case if that makes a difference. I was under there yesterday, I thought that it was a slip yoke.....but it doesn't wanna slip off

Re: front driveshaft removal

There are four bolts coming in from the back (t-case) side of the output flange on the t-case that hold the shaft to the flange. They are very hard to get to (it can be done) without removing the crossmember first. I am sure that you have an NP205, not a Dana 20.

I just wedged my arm up in there and went at it with a stubby wrench. A good thing to buy to do this would be a ratcheting stubby wrench. The bolts are a pain to get at.
