lift, crossover, new engine build (two week deadline)
Not sure why my projects always end up this way but i commited to take my 72k5 to a carshow in 2 weeks the weekend of the 26th and as it sits today the suspension is all apart, the cross over steer conversion is far from together oh and did i mention my motor is in as many peices as possible in my garage?
Saturday (12th) im driving down to redding to pickup the rest of the lift from greg(Monsterk5) so lift will be done this weekend. Running 4"flip + 8"skyjacker springs with 1"+ shackle in the rear for 13". Up front is getting 10" skyjackers with 1" zero rate for a total of 11". Should be large. Crossover, i still need the steering arms and drag link. Motor, well thats going to the machine shop this weekend to get punched .30 over and i hope to have it running by next weekend. Then all that is left is to touch up and paint my engine compartment while it is still out. Finding the time to do all this while working 50hrs a week... who knows??? Well if anyone is in oregon the show is at the Sublimity Harvest Fest grounds, usually attracts about 300 or so cars mosty hot rods and there is a burn out contest, which i got 1st in last year with my c10. maybe see you there... Progress pics will be posted here later this weekend. Wish me luck and some ambition! |

Re: lift, crossover, new engine build (two week deadline)
Looks like your gonna need more lift in the front...
|
Re: lift, crossover, new engine build (two week deadline)
mmm ya i know the front is suckin right now. The motor is gonna suck it down even more so im thinkin maybe zero rates and throw the shorter stock shackles in the rear again to try and even it out.
Any other suggestions? |

How about this..

Re: lift, crossover, new engine build (two week deadline)
haha ya there is a solution! if only money wasnt a problem....
Found the handy tape measure and got some specs.. ground to top of rear fender well= 53" ground to top of front fender well= 51" ground to bottom of frame is 33 1/2" so it looks like im short at least 3" or so in the front to bring it up and compensate for the lack of motor. I do have 1" zero rates i can try plus a front memeber to drop the front spring mounts about 2" should be in order. |
Re: lift, crossover, new engine build (two week deadline)
WOW where did the time go? Well sorry i didnt update... ever but i finished the k5 last night at about 3:30 in the AM. I drove it to work today and everything checks out minus 2 things... vacume leak and the damn rear brake line is leaking.... the collar is cracked
I should be able to pick up a new one after work, snap some last minute pics and post them for ya. Tomorrow is the show, Ill be taking my 69 C10 and the 72 K5. Ill be sure to bring the camara in case i see something worth shooting. |

Re: lift, crossover, new engine build (two week deadline)
I just realized i didnt really take any more pics of my Blazer at the show, I guess i was too busy with the other cars there, Anyways i ended up with a 2nd place trophy for the 4wd class, I was beat by an 84 chevy 4wd dually converson with swampers. Not really my style at all but it definantly had alot of hard work into it, flat bed lots of stainless and fresh paint. Ill be up against him again this weekend, we shall see who is victorious again...
Well i have some other random car pics ill put up for ya from the weekend adventure! |
