Did you remove the steel floor? I can see the wheeltubs are mounted on top of the wood floor. Did you use some kind of sealant between the wood and the wheeltubs?

Yeah I took out the steel in 5" sections, what a PITA! I redesigned a lot to get it to fit so I could mount the wheelhouses on top. The last crossmember is out of a '73 and up because it has a ledge on it that just happens to be the same thickness of the wood, I wanted steel at the end of the bed for wear purposes. The first crossmember,after the step, is out of a truck, we had to notch it to put a body mount in it! Jim
Yes, I used dum-dum under all the wood where the steel meets it

THey make kits that go over steel floors as well, and they are removeable. saw it on TRUCKS....

I'm afraid my steel floor wasn't in that good of shape, ended up replacing all crossmembers, I'm working on the last one now. It's the thick one that holds your seat belts and goes between the wheelhouses. Jim

Yes, but not my orig. My nephew has a two person seat that almost matches my fronts. It looks like a Corbeau. Jim

thats a nice mod (and i dont usually like anything but original) and a
great way to deal with the rust issues.

it must not be to easy other wise i would have seen it done more.

Would really like to see more pics of the rear floor _ looks awesome! Also, what did you use to coat the front floor area? Is that Lizard skin or bedliner or ?

Actually it wasn't as hard as i thought, then again it was in the planning stage for 7 months. It just came down to not being able to get a rust free floor, and if it does rot out all I have to do is make my own wood this time as there is not much to them! The '73 and up rear crossmember made it alot easier, the holes that were predrilled were exactly where I needed them for the SS stripes, go figure!
As for the wheel houses, I thought I would have to section them, but I didn't. On the inner fender it has a crease that I had to bend around. I made a slice at the proper height and rebent the flange on the wheel house, and slotted the mounting screw holes,
The hard part was in the front corners, I had to route them out, about a 1/2 day on each one. It does look original, as I to am a fanatic about originality.

It was Herculiner, real old can, I couln't get all the particles in suspension, so I did 2 coats. Once you put the lid back on the can that's it, it solidifies in the can, no reusing it! Pretty tough stuff, I'll let you know how it holds up. I thought you guys would be tired of seeing pics. It might take awhile, as I just got the camera last night and I'm not to good at it, some of the pics are large. Thanks for the comps. Jim

Would look good all exposed, brings your eye to the interior. My mistake was cutting the boards separately, if I did it again I would measure and cut them all to same lenght, you can't see it, but I know its there. Oh well, everyone has 20/20 hindsight! Jim

That floor looks awesome! Im planning to do the same in the back of my 69 Burban. IT has plywood back there now. So it wont be nearly as much work as yours.

A FAQ is a "how to" thread telling (w/pics preferred of course :) ) how you did the floor. Post it on the FAQ Submissions board, then everyone else who wants to do this will profit from your experience.:D

Maybe you could post up some pics, I am not aware of what a sub. floor looks like. Is it just a longer blazer floor with more crossmembers? Any help on what it looks like would be great! Jim
