Hey all!

Hi folks! I just recently found this forum, and I figured I should join since I owned a Blazer and all. My name is Kevin, and I live in the Phoenix, AZ area. I have a 1970 Chevy Blazer known as "The Banana" because of it's yellow paint job. I bought the truck about 2 years ago from the original owners, and I really haven't done much to it except for replacing the fuel filter, fuel lines, drum brakes, and master brake cylinder. I also switched the gas tank to a 35 gal. Along with "The Banana" have a 1986 GMC Sierra Classic 3/4 ton pickup that does most of the dirty work. I just stuck a new 350 engine in it, and the tranny is fairly new. I love the truck cause it's durable, and dependable, and it goes wherever I want it to go. Anyway, I'll probably be asking you guys a lot of questions as I want to start getting my Blazer project up and rolling! Thanks.

The gas tank was an aftermarket unit that the previous owners just hadn't installed yet. I'm not sure where it was purchased from. It was pretty easy to mount under the truck. It just took two bolts through each side of the chassis, and reattaching the sender cable and it was done. I attached a picture of how the tank is mounted.

The previous owner did some strange stuff to this truck. Stuff that I managed to overlook when I bought it. They had a lot of homemade solutions to problems or modifications that aren't super appealing. For instance, the truck has it's original hard top, but they cut into the top to install a sunroof. They didn't do such a good job installing the sunroof either, as it is crooked and there are globs of hardend sealent around the glass to keep it from leaking. So thanks to that I am in search of a new hard top. I don't care if it is a double or single wall top, I just want one that I can replace the old top with. I have a soft top, but they just don't look as good as the hard tops do.

How difficult would it be to find a hard top to replace my old one?

Anyway, I also attached another photo of the front of the truck. The front end is really nice and straight. The rear needs a little work, but nothing super bad. There are also a couple spots of rust below the doors from the truck being driven in Mayrland, where it was originally purchased. Eventually I'm going to replace the exhaust manifold on the truck with a set of headers that I bought from a friend. Along with that I'm going to replace the rest of the exhaust system and give it a new muffler and exhaust pipe since the old one is rusted through in some spots. The truck has a crate 350 with 45,000 miles on it which runs pretty well, but the choke isn't hooked up so it takes a few extra minutes to get it started. So that's pretty much the scoop on the old Banana. It needs a bunch of work, but I have it to where I can drive it regularly and still turn some heads out on the roads.

your blazer should have a double wall top, if you install a single you will need to do some fab work. The bolt patten is different. Check your local craigslist.com for a top. I just found a half cab for mine on there.
