L.E.D. sidemarkers
Well, I know you can use L.E.D. taillights from recent-model Wranglers for us stepsides, and I think they make L.E.D. tails for fleetsides, maybe. I wanna know if anyone has ever homemade (or bought?) L.E.D. sidemarkers for our trucks. It doesn't sound hard in concept, fabricate/purchase a panel of L.E.D.s either the same size or a little smaller than the housing for the stock bulb, splice it in, and then change the resistor for flashers (if need be).
Think its feasable? |
Re: L.E.D. sidemarkers
Yes, it's very feasible.
You may have to experiment with the number and placement of the LEDs for the desired effect. But, it should be a straightforward mod, even if you have to adjust the intensity of the LED light output. I wouldn't believe a high power resistor is necessary for the flasher operation due to the relatively low sidemarker bulb wattage. But, if needed, you could instead go the route of an electronic flasher especially if you plan of installing other LEDs for tail/brake lights, etc. Use a good qualtity LED like Superflux, too. |
