Hard top rear mount.

Just curious if all our Blazers got the mounts pictured below? Were they for a single wall top? My dad's Blazer has these mounts, but mine does not. Mine does not even have a hole where they might have been mounted. Also what would be the advantage of adding these mounts compared to without?

I just got outbid on those, where you the lucky winner? :hm:

Every top I have ever owned on all 4 of the Blazers I have
owned has had them, oh yea and I had 2 of each type top.

Definitely would put those on. You have a 70 blazer I see. One thing I can tell you is I have a 70 and it does not now have the drip caps. No holes where they were. Just a big black rubber plug. So you might have a late 69/early 70. Alot of the time with a first year new model the changes that they make don't make it on to the 1st few of the following year. Call it a 70 and get it out.

I was also outbid, was not sure if i really needed them. You were just above me on the bidding.

OIC, I had 2 sets already, I have 2 tops, and then was gonna sell one of my
sets, but I just couldn't go that high, I was already higher than my max was.

Here is a picture showing that there is no mount hole on the bed side for these mounts on my Blazer.

The build date of mine was 10/69, so it would have been a very early 70. Mine is also a Jimmy and not a Blazer. I just don't care for the Jimmy front end, so i am going to put on a 69 Blazer front clip. Right now i am just collecting parts for it, until i have enough to tear it down and rebuild it.

Mine is a '69 and also does not have the holes. I just bought a set from teeitup and will be cleaning them up and installing them soon. Not sure how I want to approach the hole drilling yet, I might weld in a piece of plate that can be threaded.

No, not missing just not being used quite right.

Can't believe you missed that one LUV...

I think what everyone is saying is that the bolt hole is missing from the tub's sheetmetal, not the fiberglass top.

What are the two pieces in in the pictures with the black square looking circle drawn around them? I think a set of those arrived with my blazer in a box of spare parts.

These are the rubber bumpers that cushion the hatch as you bring it into contact with the top. They mount on the upper bolt.

Hard to see in this picture but it this one that the rubber has maybe worn off of?

My '70 Jimmy didn't have those brackets. Everytime you hit a big bump, the hatch would pop open! Definately recommend installing them. My '72 has these brackets, and the hatch never pops open and doesn't rattle as much.

my single wall top has these brakets yet my hatch seems to be missing the hardware that actually latch onto them. All it has is the little tab that swings down onto the tailgate? I think its a crappy set up and hope to find the rest of the hardware someday....

There isn't anything on the hatch for any of these brackets. Can you take a picture of what you are talking about.

Not such an easy fix. The hole has a threaded insert to accept the bolt and there isn't any access from behind to put a nut on it. I guess you could use a speed nut or something, but I don't think just a hole will work (unless you are just going for the look).

Re: Hard top rear mount.

Why use a bolt? if you are making the hole from scratch why not inovate,
that's why I said it was a easy fix, of course I can't tell ya what I would
do, top secret, but their are alot of one-way fasteners if ya look around.

Re: Hard top rear mount.

I thought the hatch had bars that ran from the handle to the ends to latch onto the two silver hooks in the center of the pic up top. Sorry my truck is up at the shop, ill get a pic this weekend if you still want to see what i mean.
Does anyone elses hatch lock onto the tailgate itelf or do i have a morphadite garage door opener handle for a hatch.....? haha
