Pulley alignment problems
2 Attachment(s)
While converting to PS, I realized that neither pulley I have will work. So which crank pulley do I need. If someone has a pic, or the pulley I need, please post up. Here are the pics of my problem, shallow and deep pulley.
Also, would the brackets make any difference? I have two sets of those also, both of them different. One is cast, and one is stamped, all help is greatly appreciated. |
Re: Pulley alignment problems
Just went through this, and Joey67 did too. You have a short water pump. That 2nd pulley is a short water pump PS pulley. You will need either a 3 or 4 groove crank pulley for short water pump to make that work. The short pump crank pulleys fit flush to the harmonic balancer. This is using the cast brackets.
After playing around in the WTB section for over a week I called summit and ordered their 3-groove chrome crank pulley P/N SUM-G3972. It should arrive mid-week and I will report back if it fits or not, but I am pretty confident that it will work great. |

mines a double cast crank pulley and a double rear pulley |
Re: Pulley alignment problems
I’ll make note of the crank pulley as I don’t think my pulley issues are solved yet.
Thanks for the PN#. s/t |

Would a later model work?

Re: Pulley alignment problems
I had the same issues installing power on the Blazer, and just bought 3/8 inch spacers from the hardware store to move the pulley out far enough to reach. Had to also get the proper pulley used from a board member as I didn't have the right one. Looks like the deep one in your pic.

Re: Pulley alignment problems
You guys should contact this guy SouthernParts he has pulleys for $10 & are for the short water pump. I ordered a water pump pulley and got it the other day. Now I’m waiting to see how everything looks after I get the truck back together. I may need a crank pulley before it’s over.
