C30 Tubular Exhaust Manifolds on C10?

My 350 is running the old 305 exhaust manifolds. I was looking around a junkyard Saturday, and found a C10 with tubular exhaust manifolds. I looked up a pic of the ones they put on the C30s, and it appears to be the ones.

Has anyone used these on a C10? Would my A/C bracket bolt up okay (it bolts to the exhaust manifold)? Is it safe to assume they would perform better on the 350 than the 305 manifolds? Do they have any problems with leaking?

I believe they are stainless steel. They looked like this:

Dang I like those, are they factory or aftermarket??? kinda look homemade but probably just as good as a set of shorties.

For smallblock. I don't know if there is something similar for a bigblock.

Part # 674530 right side

Part # 674531 left side

$241.79 each in stainless steel at www.rockauto.com

Not cheap! I need to try to get the set from the local junkyard. I think they would be okay on the truck, and pretty afordable.

I don't think those will scavenge/flow much better than stock manifolds if even at all, but they'd be a ton lighter and more resistant to corrosion. If you can pick them up cheap at a salvage yard I say go for it.

Thanks Slon, they are a bit pricey and for that amount I could get a set Thorley Tri-Y's which I really want, might have to check out the local Pick Apart yard, what years were they available on???

I have no idea when they were available. The only time I saw them was on an 80s C10 in a junkyard. I had heard they came on big pickups, but never saw one until a few days ago. I found those by searching rockauto.com for an '86 C30.

I have seen a set on a 85-86 3/4 ton, I think it was a hd 3/4 ton though. It had factory dual exhaust 2 or 2.5 in don't think it had any catalytic convertors. The exhaust tubing also had like a heat shield around the exhaust pipes. Kind of like the heat shields on a universal catalytic convertor. I'm thinking the engine was a 350, th400, 14 bolt ff rear. I was looking at buying it but that was a really long time ago. That is the only truck I have seen them on out of all the engine bays Ive seen.

looks like a nice buy from a pick and pull if they are the right price. they are stainless which is sweet!!! but i don't know how much better they can flow. Well should be better then the 305's i think. How much i don't know. Are you planning on running new exhast from thos manifolds to the car? i do not know if the stock y pipe will bolt up.

Yes, I am looking at getting a whole new exhaust system built. I keep chasing leaks around on mine, and the cats are starting to break apart. It was junk when I got it, and it didn't get any better over the last 5+ years.

It has some really poor quality bends, plus a couple of spots where they just cut a V in the tubing and welded it back together at an angle to make a rough bend of sorts, kind of an L shape. :sexy:

I found out when I last replaced the gasket at the pipe/manifold that the inside diamerter of the gasket is only 1 7/7, whcih seems kind of small for a 350.

Why not just get some nice quality headers along with high flow cats? You would definetly feel a big difference with the torque output.

Re: C30 Tubular Exhaust Manifolds on C10?

 good point 84! Slonaker that is one fine truck you got there. If you do headers i would go SS or ceramic coated. But i am guessing you want to retain the stock style?? Eather way are you going to do some sort of duals or just keep her stock looking and sounding? if i ever do mine i havve a whole idea set up. I am going to put a electric cut out infront of the cat and the muffler. so normally the exhaust will flow through the cat and muffler but when i am at a show the electric buterfly opens and the exhaust flows past the cat and muffler and then ties back in after the muffler to the tail pipe. IT is a  idea but i think it would be really cool when i am done.

sorry for the off topic rant

84 400 let'em hang, man. Just let that cutout dump under the truck. It will sound awesome. I see no reason to route the exhaust around the cat and muffler. I've heard that high flow cats flow tremendously well, with little to no restriction on the system. I'd would use 2.5 exhaust along with the high flow cats. HEADERS+2.5 STAINLESS EXHAUST TUBING+2HIGHFLOW CATS+2SUPER40FLOWMASTER MUFFLERS=AWESOME SOUND AND PERFORMANCE
