Pull the intake and reseal it. Use felpro gaskets with a little bit of gasket sealer around the coolant ports. Not around the gas ports. Make sure everything is clean. Run a bead of silicone at the ends of the intake without the rubbers they supply. And you should be good to go.

I too have had the mysterious oil puddle on the intake, even only after a rebuild of less then 1000 miles. never knew where it came from. I assumed the valve covers leaked..those old steel valve covers never did ever seal good..

Re: oil puddle on intake

Remove the intake manifold bolts closest to the oil and put some teflon thread sealant on them. Re install the bolts and that should stop the leak.

:agree: Crankcase pressure when you are working it hard is pushing oil up the bolt threads. Several of the threaded holes in the head are not "blind" holes- they go all the way thru exposed to oil in the pushrod area.

I pulled one bolt a night and used permatex thread sealant on it, torque it down and left it set over night. I had 34 bolts that did that, after 4 nights, no more oil puddles.

I did one at a time so I didn't break the seal on the intake and it allowed the thread sealant to set for each bolt.

Good Info. I will have to do that on mine. I couldn't figure it out either, even though the intake will be coming off.
