Re: tranny and rearend ?
is it a auto or manual in 1960--1966 engs where 250s 283 and in 1966 was 327 trans missions where 3 on the tree speeds 4 speeds on the floor and the 2 speed automatic powerglide the 3 speed was a long gear box with 2 levers a 4 spped had 3 now i've seen 3 speeds with a over drive maening it has 4 spped but they called it a 3 speed with a over drive hope that helped
Rear end gears depends on what part of the country your from i've seen 299 gear in the cold states do to the snow and ice on the roads if you had a 373 you do a lot of spinning and sliding down the street and crashing into other cars not good on the gears |
Re: tranny and rearend ?
Thanks stsalvage
Its a three on the coulmn saganaw I found out by the casing. The numbers on the ring gear are 3817778 11 41GM11 64 2 27 any idea? Maybe 4:11 Thank you Mike |
Re: tranny and rearend ?
That's interesting, I wonder how GM knew what part of the country these vehicles were going to?
The numbers 11 and 41 indicate the number of teeth on your ring and pinion. Dividing 41 by 11 gives you 3:73. Frank |
