Whats the problem here?
Have a 454 in a 87 p30 chassis. Engine seems to idle fine when you first fire it up, after a few minutes the idle kicks down and it seems to idle normal, has about 20# vacuum and holds steady. Then after running 10 minutes or so and getting fully warmed up it just wants to die, wont keep running unless i give it some throttle. Otherwise it will just bog down and die.
What are some of the things that could be going on here so i can run through and check everything. |
Re: Whats the problem here?
adjust the idle screw more then all is well.

Re: Whats the problem here?
Sounds like it could be flooding out too. You can look down int he top of the carb and see if it's pouring too much gas into the engine.

Re: Whats the problem here?
Or better yet, RIGHT AFTER it dies the first time, look down into the top of the carb. Is it really wet? Can you smell alot of gas in there?

Re: Whats the problem here?
wiht all the temp based vacume switches and the 91' of vacume line i would bet that you have a open end somewhere or bad and old lines.

Re: Whats the problem here?
I've been replacing all the vacuum lines as they are all old and rotten. I just didnt understand the whole only dying when its warm thing
