Flip Kit Questions
I would like to know when you do a flip kit and noth the frame, do you have to cut the bed floor at all?
I would also like to see some pics of the flip kit installation if anyone has them. Thanks, Ryan |
Re: Flip Kit Questions
I have a Western flip kit installed and all I have to say is that I had to work on my bed in combination with an 2" habger. Pics are availible at www.los-lowrider.com then on tech-corner

Re: Flip Kit Questions
for a flip kit you don't have to do anything to the bed.
If you put shackles on you would though. |
Re: Flip Kit Questions
mine's flipped and c notched with no bed mod's.ride's ok.i don't haul or pull nothing with it.i suppose it's load limit isn't much.but if your looking to drop it.i doubt your going to use it as a work truck anyway.

Re: Flip Kit Questions
My bro's 81 is flipped. Factory spring pack, shackle, and hanger. No notch and no issues. Ran 9.50's in the thousand ft. without issue.

Re: Flip Kit Questions
If you use Western Chassis C-section, you will have to notch a tad on the bed. It has bolts on the top and they will hit. At least they did on mine.

Re: Flip Kit Questions
Ya like bigblock73 said... but it dosent hurt well you are there to do it, just for future... I did mine with just a peice of 6 inch pipe cut in half and alittle bit of metal to box the frame in a bit.

Re: Flip Kit Questions
Do you have to notch the frame for a 5" flip also? Or just a 6"?
|
Re: Flip Kit Questions
so if i just do a flip on my truck, i could get away without notching the frame?
|
Re: Flip Kit Questions
You probably still wanna notch your frame. Even if the axle doesn't hit the frame under normal driving conditions, there's always that big bump, pothole, railroad tracks, etc. You will bottom out the axle on this stuff, and it's not fun, and could lead to damage.

Here's my F150 with a flip kit.
Or wait, no, it just had over 1000 bricks in the bed. And no people, I did not drive it like this. |

Re: Flip Kit Questions
Iv donwe that before tomy old 86 c10 I was at a stop light that had a slit hill. The truck had a granny tranny so i put it in low to give it that extra goo for the wieght. Well when the light turned green my truck went up Before i started to go the truck did two full stand on the bumper. Need less to say i think that the cause of the rear going out and the tranny fork breaking off later on.
