not a good day for me
well, i got my disc brake conversion in stalled along with my new 2.5" spindles and 2" springs. i go to put the wheels back on and.....they don't fit!! :( My dumb a$$ thought my bolt pattern was 5 on 5, stock drums are 5 on 4 1/2, new rotors are 5 on 4 3/4, my new $$2500.00 rims that should be here anytime are 5 on 5:whine:
any suggestions? can i get a 5 on 5 rotor to fit magaughy spindles? i should be able to get a set of moser axles for the rear also with 5 on 5 right? :fb: :help: |
Re: not a good day for me
5 on 4.5 is ford car.....5 on 4.75 is GM car.....5 on 5 is GM 1/2 ton truck from 71 and up till the metrics
|
Re: not a good day for me
Oh and large GM car is 5 :) on 5 also
|
Re: not a good day for me
my '68 stock drums all the way around are 5 on 4 1/2...hhmmm
|
Re: not a good day for me
stock drums are 6 on 5
|
Re: not a good day for me
your STOCK drums should be 6 on 5.5
gm truck spindes are 5on 5 put stock rotors on it and you should be fine. |
Re: not a good day for me
I don't know if this will help but I ordered a complete front end kit that had spindles, rotors, ball joints the whole nine yards but was for six lug wheels. At the last minute I decided to go with five lug wheels so my lug patern was wrong, I went to autozone and bought two replacment rotors problem solved, everything bolted up fine.

Re: not a good day for me
thanks, i think im going to try and get different rotors and new axles.
My truck is 5 lug, not 6. |
Re: not a good day for me
First why would you have 5 on 4.5 ? What type of rear do you have? Ford?
|
Re: not a good day for me
12 bolt chev rear end
|
Re: not a good day for me
Do you have a pic of this rear. The reason I ask if the axles are 5 on 4.5 Then it was drilled special by someone. And for you to have the front like this really makes me doubt your conclusion. You need to measure the pattern. Maybe someone can chime in on proper precedure. I think it is center to center (lugs)

Re: not a good day for me
im uploading some pics right now.. i know how to measure lug patterns...this is a first for me also. i thought chev trucks were 5 on 5

Re: not a good day for me
Moser can make you axels in any pattern you want. Give them a call.
|
Re: not a good day for me
that 12-bolt should have c-clips shouldn't it
|
Re: not a good day for me
C-clips...YES....Thats how I would measure. Thats a little SPOOKY
|
Re: not a good day for me
yup, i should be able to get rotors i hope with 5 on 5. looks like i'll be calling moser also...do you know what spline they are stock? 28? 30?
|
Re: not a good day for me
With your luck,at this point. Iwould count 'em. Goodluck:)
|
Re: not a good day for me
Have you measured the rear? I would if you are going on the fact that the rims match.
|
Re: not a good day for me
i did measure the rears also.. looks like i need to pull an axle and count splines

Actually on all 5 lug patters you measure from the outside of one lug to the center of the opposite lug (skipping one lug) See the attached fitment picture. So using that meathod, your drums are 5 X 4 3/4 which would be correct and your new disc are 5 X 5 which also is correct.

Re: not a good day for me
the way youre measureing youre new front discs is wrong, cause youre measureing center to center and its outside to center so that makes the fronts 5 on 5 and if youre rear is the same as the front then you have the right rims for your truck

Re: not a good day for me
thanks guys!! i guess im just used to measuring 6 lug. this really helped me out.
|
Re: not a good day for me
