Power comes from the fusebox to the brakelight switch. It then goes from the switch to the turn signal switch. Then it goes out the firewall near the gas pedal and down to the frame.

There is a brake light fuse. If you have no power to the switch, you need to check the fuse first.

i bought a whole new painless performance wiring kit, not the stock wiring and fuse box...

I have a Painless harness as well and I didn't have that problem. I would check the fuses as stated above. I'm assuming you tested the wires to be sure if there is power or not. Are you sure your brake switch is good?

brake switch is brand new....the wires that lead to the brake switch have no power to them...in my fuse box there is no fuse labelled break switch, anything else it could be under?

Do the turn signals work? (Probably not). If memory serves, power comes from fuse box, to column, through turn signals and hazard, to brake switch, to brake lights.

The wires that go under the floor mat go to the fuel sending unit and the dome lamp.

Re: How does power get to the brake light switch?

I just checked my fuse box. The brake fuse on mine is labeled as "Stop", so yours should be the same. I would assume Painless labels everything the same, but sometimes you never w/ some companies.
