2 piece Drive Shaft????
As you can see in my other thread I just Zd my frame 3". My problem is that my driveshaft was about .25" from hitting my crossmember where my upper bars mount before I Zd it. SO now that it is Zd, the front of the driveshaft is moved up 3" therfore it is definately gonna hit now. Im thinking about running a 2 piece and putting the carrier bearing on that crossmember. Would this work? Any pros and cons would help. Thanks alot.:metal:

Re: 2 piece Drive Shaft????
Don't think it's gonna work man. I think you have to cut the cab. I have a two piece and no Z, and my drive shaft is almost hitting the cab, and I am an inch from laying out.

Re: 2 piece Drive Shaft????
The cab is not the problem. I cut the cab before the Z. Its the crossmember that my upper bars go to that I dont wanna cut out. Ill post a pic of the crossmember Im talking about.

Re: 2 piece Drive Shaft????
with that setup, i would think a 2 piece driveshaft would work just fine. mount the carrier bracket to your x member that you made. Depending on where your x member is compared to factory, you'll probably have to get a drive shaft made for your truck.

Re: 2 piece Drive Shaft????
oh ok. I agree with Ivel. Fabricate a bracket for the carrier bearing on your crossmember and get the shaft as high as you can. This will minimize your working angles. You should be doing all this at ride height so you can make sure all your working angles at the u-joints are within limits.

Re: 2 piece Drive Shaft????
Would anyone happen to know the working angles? My truck had a 1 piece so Im kinda clueless on the 2 piece.

Re: 2 piece Drive Shaft????
at ride height, all angles should be 2-3 degrees. do a quick search in these forums and you'll see a few threads on this topic.
