Shackle Drop...
I did the shackle drop today. The friigen bed bolts were a bare at first, put some heat to them and they came off like butter. Anyhow, the rear is lower than the front.....:D by about an inch, gives me a reason to do the rear flip and 2.5 spindles with a 2 inch spring. The truck looks good level, but it is going lower...Actaully rides a little better now than it did...I will post some pics tomorrow.:bling2:

Re: Shackle Drop...
Hey, I just ordered a 2.5/4 deluxe drop kit yesterday. It has rear spring shackles and hangers, do you Have to take off the bed to get the shackles on/off?

Funny how one letter in one word can make a sentence mean something totally different! :D |

the shackles will be no problem, but you will have to cut the bed crossmember right above the shackle to clear. |

Re: Shackle Drop...
if you have access to a lift, i would use it. you can leave the tail lights on the bed, just disconnect the taillight harness. remember to bolt the gas tank filler neck back to the bed, otherwise you will look like me trying tp put gas in it today, it looked so good i forgot about having to put gas in it.

Re: Shackle Drop...
We changed the front hanger on our 86 k10, DEFINATELY REMOVE THE GAS TANK!!!! Without doing that we could have never got to the rivets, plus we were using a grinder to grind the rivet heads off. All thoose sparks and a gas tank, not a good combo.
The bed off would make it even easier, tons more room to work, and as others said, then you can clean and paint the frame and suspension. We couldn't get some of the bolts off on the 86 so we removed the front 4 I think and slid a 2x4 between the bed and frame, that gave us just enough room to grind the top rivets with our big grinder and not hit the bed all the time. |
