Re: Removing and Installing glass in doors

Start by removing the door handle and window crank, by removing the set screw, securing it to the spindle with a slotted screw driver. Remove the twelve phillips screws, securing the door panel to the door shell, using #3 bit works the best. A #3 is a square tip/philips tip combined. Now remove the screws securing the window regulator and latching mechanism form the inside of the door shell, exposed when the inner door panel was removed.

The window glass is secured in the window track, via friction fit and glazing tape. Over time this tape tends to become brittle and it shrinks, so the glass will usually pull out of the track without much effort. Once the glass is removed you are able to remove the lock regulator and window regulator. A #3 tip is best for removing the screws holding the regulators, as well.

You can now reverse the process, to install the old regulators into the donor doors. While you have the doors apart, I suggest new glass whiskers (on either side of the glass as the window rolls up), the window channel (on the window side of the vent window), the glass gasket (from the top of the wing window frame across the top of the glass and down into the door shell) and the vent window gasket.

They set looks like this:

I hope this information is helpful and good luck with your project.
