shock relocator
I put 4" drop coils on my 72 c-10 and it rides rough.It seems to me that the shocks are possibly bottoming -out.I saw a shock relocator kit on some of the part suppliers web pages and was wondering if any one out there has any info/ feed back on how well these work as opposed to shorter shocks. Thanks:confused:

I too am looking for a shock locator. I have lower tubular control arms with lowering springs. I also purchased shorter adjustable shocks and they bottom out on very hard bumps. I saw a shock relocator on the air ride site under their new C10 suspension system. I don't see it listed as a separate item, but I have been meaning to contact them on this.

I'd look into a shorter shock before you get into modifying the truck to make your current shock work. If you want to get me some measurements then i can research my shock book and see what's available and provide you with some part numbers.

when lowering the rear of the truck you're laying the shock down loosing its effectiveness(they're designed to work best up and down not sideways) and you also need to go for shorter shocks

I lowered my 72 c10 last year a little and put drop shocks on the truck which are shorter than stock, but there was no travel left in the shock even with shorter shocks. This year put a shock relocator kit which uses your stock holes and also putting an adjustable panhard bar in the back to re-center your rear axle. I bought my kits from http://www.classicperform.com and a lot of guys on here buy stuff from http://www.earlyclassic.com, you would be surprised how much your rear axle moves off center from lowering it. For the rear, you can take the stock lower brackets, heat and beat the lip of them flat and then flip them side to side and upside down to get 2-3 more inches for your shock.
