Can anyone decode my VIN please

Hello from Scotland, just bought a GMC long wheelbase truck ex North Dakota farm truck. It has coils on the front and leaves on the back 327 with 4 speed. It has small back window and 4 headlights. The plate on the door says
GMC Truck
GVW 5000
CE1590D PC1240A

Thanks
John

Hello from Arkansas, and welcome to the "board".

With a small back window, and a 327, it sounds like you have a 1967. The CE part of the VIN says it is a half-ton, as we call them. The normal practice was to put leaf springs on the rear of GMC's, with coil springs as an option.

Inside your glove box door, there should be a decal affixed that will have two columns of characters on the left side of the column with a brief description of that item. For instance C60, U63, M49 are some of those letter/number combos you will find.

If you take a picture of that decal and attach it to one of your postings, we can tell you a lot more about your vehicle.

The GMC trucks are funny, nothing like the chevys.
I agree that the small back window makes it a 67.
All GMC trucks had the 4 lamp grills... yours should say GMC in the center of the grill too... that's a 67 only piece.
There's a couple ppl here that know the GMC VIN codes... I'll give it a stab.
CE1590D PC1240A;
C 2 wheel drive
E v-8 gas motor
15 1/2 ton
umm, I'm lost on the rest.
Where's Rod? He knows these

Re: Can anyone decode my VIN please

CE1590D PC1240A

C = Conventional truck cab
E = Eight Cyl
1 = 1/2 ton
59 = Cab to rear axle dimension of 54 inches.
0D = Fleetside box

the space is for the state code designation if required, which in this and most cases is not required.

P = Pontiac Assesmbly Plant
C = model year 1967
1240 is the sequence number of the vin
A = GVW range 6000 lbs or less

Those were the interesting ones to decode when I figured out the GMC vins.

I live in Canada, just north above North Dakota. These trucks sure get around still. Welcome to the boards.

Thanks for that guys, couldn't figure gmc vin. I used to live in Canada, Oakville Ontario so I guess I get around too. Got somr resto work to do on truck so will post updates. Hardly any serious rust, but hardly any paint left on the truck either.

Cheers
John
