Bought a truck

Went to Salem today to look at a truck, and ended up getting it put money down to hold it. It used to be a 6.2 and its been swapped to a 350; k&n air filter, headers, duals all the way back, :metal: 1983 chevy 1 ton 4x4 turbo 400. I'm not sure if it is 4.10 or 4.56 I'll find out later. The cab floor looked pretty solid needs a hood and a tailgate
as you can see it needs rockers, door skins, maybe doors I don't know yet, bedsides, gas doors:crazy:, needs one fender. Its been repainted once so who knows what kind of rainbow of colors are under that white paint. GVW Tag was gone :confused:. Its got aftermarket wheels and locking hubs. It drove good the secondaries never did open up:(, but my old man can tune quadrajets pretty good so I'm covered there. All week all I have been thinking about is this truck and now I bought it so now I'll be thinking about parts for it.:metal:

Looks like you have your work cut out for you... but for that price, you can't beat it. You doing all of the body work yourself?

Re: Bought a truck

I will not be doing all the body work my self. I have a good friend who used to be an auto body instructor so he will be helping me a lot. He has done a lot of rust repair on these trucks especially lower door skins. I might end up getting a bed side, and a fender to make things easier and purchase 2 gas doors. I've never seen them rusted through. I think other than rocker everything that needs cancer repair is bolt ons. I might end up buying solid doors because the ones I have are real bad I can see through to the rockers on one of them. The cab is nice and air tight and seals are ok. I had trouble closing the door without slamming it when the windows were closed. When they were open it was easy though. There was a big storm right before I test drove it and there were no puddles or wet floor mats so I wont have to worry about that.

I was just thinking this aswell.....it's a 1 ton, non-dually truck. It's worth it's weight in gold. Wanna trade for my 1/2 ton?

No thanks I've been looking for this for 5 months now. I finally found her this is exactly what I wanted, other than its not a 79 but thats easily changed. It would have been nice if it was a little more rust free but for the price I cant beat it.
