pwr.steering ques.???
wonderin' what causes the pwr.steering to work sporadically when engine is not revving.i've noticed it several times b-4, that when i go to back down my driveway, and initally the wheel is turned to line up my rear end w/ the driveway, the steering makes a noise like it's really straining.once you get some rpm's the steering is responsive and the straing noise goes away.makes you almost think the pump is low on fluid, but the level is perfect, both at cold and hot temp's.whats making the pwr. steering strain so much unless it has sufficient rpm's?? anyone?

If the belt is tight without seeing it I would say your pump is on its way out. What fluid you use? I see lots of guys run ATF, dunno why, not like its any cheaper than P/S fluid http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif.

My p/s pump is about to go. It makes a low-pitch hum when I'm stopped at lights, but if I turn the wheel to the right a bit (under load) the sound stops.
Also, if I make a sharp right turn and hold the wheel to the right I hear this small thudding noise like something is tapping against the inside of the engine compartment... ------------------ '69 3/4 ton C20 2wd w/ 350ci/400THM and a wood bed!
