Power brake conversion questions
 

So I drove my "new" 68 3/4 ton 4x4 home last night and my legs are killing me. 20 miles and Im sick of manual brakes. I have sorted out that I need a booster/MC/brackets and pedal linkage for the conversion then it basically bolts in....My question is where to get the Brackets and linkage???? Will ones out of a newer truck fit? Not many of these trucks in the junkyards around me. Ive been checking Ebay but unless you want a full chrome unit (and I realy dont trust brake parts from ebay) there arent many options and still no linkage.

I used an SSBC unit and it is a complete peice for the '68 and includes a new pushrod for the booster and master cylinder that requires a new hole to be drilled 1-inch lower on the pedal. it was no big deal.

I used 73-up bracket, booster and master.For some reason I installed the bracket and booster upside down, and bolted the upside down booster bracket to a rightside up one which bolted right up to the firewall. Then I made myself a longer pushrod. It was dirt cheap, and I meant to do something cleaner looking one day, but in 10 years it's given me 0 trouble:thumbs: May not fit with a big block?

It has 35's on it already....Glad it was Tolway most of teh way home!!!!

SSBC????? do explain...

I like the idea of just using a 73+ unit, just need to know how long that pushrod will need to be.

Cut to approximate length, and weld/braise a rod coupler nut to one peice(use some overlap), thread the other end, toss a jam nut on there, thread into coupler. Voila! instant adjustable pushrod. Adjust to 1/32" or so free play.
