Lift kit install #2

1 Attachment(s)
My new lift kit from Rough Country arrived today. As some,or most might know, the front springs they originally sent me weren't arched enough for a 4" lift so they sent some new ones for free. So,with the afternoon free I've got time to get this new lift installed...See y'all later. Here is the pic of the new springs, they are arched right.Hopefully I'll have some after pics later this afternoon. It shouldn't take long, the bolts are all new.

Old springs are out..now time to get the new ones in.I did have to remove my headers though,to get the back bolts out.One reason I'm going back to manifolds.

Well....I'll start off with this smilely :cuss:

The very intellegent people from Rough Country sent me front springs for a 73-87...:dohh: I wondered why the front springs were hitting the frame in the back and then I checked the numbers...back these go..and now the truck doesn't have a front suspension...Idiots.

Tell me about it...Were your springs arched that much?
I called them,a new lift (Hopefully the right one!!) is on the way.Hopefully it's here by the weekend so I can get them on.

You have a right to be angry at them, are they doing anything to make it right? Some new rear springs for all your troubles would be cool :-)

Re: Lift kit install #2

Well,I went out,and put the new springs in one side and left the old one in the other side..this was to see if there was a difference between the 2.I get it all back together, get out the tape measure and measure off the same point on both sides..and guess what? They are the same!! You know what that means? These still won't work.Sure, they may be new springs but the truck will sit the same as it did before...I guess I'll call them again tomorrow  I guess I'll ask for 6" front springs tomorrow and see what happens then...
B@$terd$ :cuss:
If I wasn't putting the lift on myself,I'd send them a bill for labor costs..hmm,I might still do that

No one else would have this issue..It's just my luck. What's that old sayin'? If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all!

Re: Lift kit install #2

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Although when useing rough country it seems to be the norm. I lifted a friends 2000 Jeep Wrangler and it took 3 weeks to get the lift in and a bunch of phone calls. Then when it got there it wasn't complete had to wait for more parts. Thier answer was to send us some hats and stickers. Like we wanted to advertise for them or something. Hope all goes well.

Well, this will be my last purchase from them..This just hasnt taken me a few weeks though..I first put the lift on in January.
It started out with a great stance..till the motor went in..
Attachment 313665
The motor still wasnt in and the front started sagging..
Attachment 313666
The front kept going down..the motor was in it then, but the truck had never moved under it's own power...I put 150 pounds of concrete in the back just to get it to sit like it is!
Attachment 313667
As you can tell compared to the K/5 with a 2" lift,it was sitting higher, but also notice the back was higher than the front...

Re: Lift kit install #2

Well, they sent out add-a-leafs they claim will still add 2" to the springs..they better. They also sent out a few t-shirts and hats...like I'll wear them after my experience with them
Hopefully the add-a-leafs are here tomorrow.

Well, the add-a-leafs showed up yesterday.I got the spring packs apart, and got the add-a-leafs in..They did put some more arch on them, hopefully they allow the truck to sit level..I guess I'll find out later when I put the springs back on..

Your story sucks to have gone through the BS. I ordered my RC kit through JCWhitney and had everything I needed to my door in less than a week. Everything was correct.

So to say that either way is the norm might not be completely accurate. I'm not defending them, but that was my experience. At least they have worked with you in getting the corrective parts out to fix the problem. Other companies would have told you to pound sand.
