Mag Hytec GM 10 bolt cover

Hey guys
Not sure if you remember my issues with this cover, and the install....etc.

Here is the Thread
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...num+diff+cover

Anyways I wrote them an e-mail regarding my issues, and concerns.
I have to give them some props, it only took them approx 3hrs to get back to me......so they are quick when you have something bad to say

Here is my e-mail, word for word.....unaltered

Dear Mag-Hytec

I purchased the GM10-8.5 rear diff cover on October 2nd,2007 from a online supplier, and upon installation of the product 2 issues arose in which I was not pleased with, one was the machining of the flange, and the fitment on a regular 10 bolt rear end, and the second is the false advertising on your company website regarding the 4 qt capacity

I decided to purchase your cover even though it was $100 more expensive than any other cover with the same features, assuming that with that extra money spent the machining, and fitment would be 100% perfect, and it would be a bolt on cover, with no modifications necessary. Upon installation I noticed that 1 of the 10 machined bolt holes didn't line up, and was actually out approx. 1/8th of an inch. This required me to elongate this hole, and cause me extra grief of having to use trial and error to get it to fit properly. I would expect this from a cheap cover, but not a $250 cover. This is unacceptable, and should be remedied as soon as possible, to avoid any further customer complaints.

I also liked the fact that this cover was supposed to hold 4qts of fluid, and keep the rear-end cooler, and last longer. Upon filling the rear differential to between the two marked lines on the dipstick, as per the instructions, even after the 50 mile run in period. I found that the cover only held approx 3qts of fluid. This is a far cry from the 4qts as advertised, and is completely miss leading.

In conclusion I would like to know how you plan on addressing these concerns, and maintaining me as customer, as I was looking to purchase the TH400 transmission pan when it became available aswell

Thank you
Cameron
And here is there response

Cameron,

After reading your E-mail, I went out to the warehouse and reaffirmed that the #GM 10-8.5 s/n 1945 still fit perfectly on our housing. After almost 2000 units sold we would have had more feed back about your issues with installation. And if you fill the differential to the top line that will equal 4 qts. So I am not sure what happened with your application. Have a nice day.

Dave @Mag-Hytec
Basically saying.....F*&K you,
Now I am an apprentise, I have done approx 30-40 diff services, on different makes, and models.....so I am no novice.

And my 10 bolt is like every other, no alterations to the original cover either. And how do they get 1 qt of fluid more, and not over fill it? Unless there pinion angle is straight down, and there filling the whole pot......no one could be that stupid though, could they

So who is right here?, or am I just asking two much from a $250 cover?

Thanks
Duro

Re: Mag Hytec GM 10 bolt cover

well id fill it to the top of the full line and see how much it holds then, but that doesnt help with the bolt being out of line... id take picturesd and send them a certified letter showing your differential and the pics and then tell them you want a refund.. id never buy one of their products again

Re: Mag Hytec GM 10 bolt cover

Thats just it....you fill it to the factory fill hole, and it's at the full mark on the dipstick, which it's supposed to be........but it still only hold 3.0L with 2 bottles of the LSD additive. So thats only 3.17qts of fluid. Not 4 qts as advertised

Re: Mag Hytec GM 10 bolt cover

No I converted it....3.0L is equal to 3.17qts (US). Still not 4qts (US)
