help with crate engine/question
I bought a 350/290 hp longblock crate motor. There's a piece of cardboard where the intake manifold goes. Under the cardboard is a bag with 2 timing cover marks that you bolt on and 2 pins. Where do the pins go? Maybe one plugs the extra dipstick hole? They are different sizes. 5/16" and 3/8"
I called chevy and they don't know. Please help |

Yes indeed. Plug the appropriate plug into the unused dipstick hole.
I like to go the the stealership and buy a 88-95 truck 350 dipstick and tube for all my old trucks. They go into the passenger side of the engine and are nice and long with a tee handle. Much nicer to use than the old original driver's side unit was. Under 20 bucks total. |

So 1 plugs the unused dipstick hole. Where does the other plug go?

I think 1 plug is for the passenger side dipstick hole, and the other is for the drivers side hole. Different sizes for each side. The 2 timing pointers are for different size balancers, also. Just giving you some options.

The other one goes into the section of your toolbox where you keep all the knick-nacks you say you'll use someday but never do. :lol:
