Adding a 3rd seat

just picked up a blazer rear seat to add to my burb as the 3rd seat. Anything I need to know about mounting it for safety reasons or just drill some holes and throw in some grade 8 bolts?

I also would like to hear from someone who has done this since this project is in my near future. I am also installing the narrow 2nd row seat.

There should be some holes, or at markings of where they would go, on the floor to mount the brackets.
Do you have all the correct brackets?

I have the correct brackets but my burb never had a 3rd seat in it before.

Well, I can tell you that the existing rails are either too close to the 2nd row or too close to the back. The gas tank is in the way of inserting a bar/rail for the perfect position. Instead of dropping the tank and going through all that, I just mounted the rear brackets of the bench to the rear most rail. I am assuming you want to mount through some steel and not just the plywood.

If you go through the wood place some wide washers or plate on the bolt head to distribute the load to a wider area.... so as they don't rip through during an accident. Thats essentially how it looks like the factory did it. (Large metal plates with threaded nuts/heads screwed into the wood)

I figured I could just drill through the wood and use a piece of flat iron to run the length of the seat underneath to attach all the bolts to.

Have you done this yet? My assembly manual indicates the holes are there with plugs in the plywood

I have not done this yet. I will have to look for the plugs next time I'm in cali, since that is where the burb is.

Here's some not so good pictures of the bottom. The front of the seat is bolted to the floor with 2 very expensive "c" brackets. They bolt to nutserts that are nailed to the bottom side of the floor. The back of the seat bolts to the metal brace underneath. I believe the seatbelts bolt to the same brace.
