99 and up 2wd 6 lug front crossmember swap into a 67-70 c10

Does anyone have any opinions on a 99 and up 2wd 6 lug front crossmember /suspenssion swap into a 67-70 c10?

These 99 and up parts are cheep, cause there metric I think.

Are they cheaper than 73-87 GM truck parts?

Two totally different frames, and the 88+ trucks dont have bolt in crossmembers.

what about just cutting the frame off at the firewall and welding the new clip on to your old frame

the geometry is better on the 63-87 trucks. I would stick with that stuff.

I found this in the FAQ a while back http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...ad.php?t=35042

I got lucky and got a complete front suspension (actually the frame was cut behind the cab) for cheap, and the 6 lug rotors I found to be real reasonable at Schucks, and I also have the lower a-arm. This is what I'll be doing to my '66 Suburban this summer

It is also something I have thought about. After delving into many different years of trucks, the '99 and newer GM 1500 2wd trucks have great clearance, rack & pinion steering, and will lay a huge wheel and tire combo. Let's not even mention the amount of off the shelf big brake kits available for the newer trucks. My truck is a square body 5 lug so something to take into consideration is the need to swap to a 6 lug rear axle and brakes should anyone decide the newer front clip is the way to go.

As for that Tony guy...he has no idea what he's talking about. His chick told me so one cozy night...

One Cozy night....??? Must have been my girlfriend.... My wife has been pissed off since kid #1 ..... Seriously...... I would not swap in a 99 newer front stub. Compare to the geometry on the 63-87's it is much better. Plus you can also find big brake kits avaliable for that AND you dont have to worry about the ackerman on that rack which will get stupid once it is taken so far out of its OE parameters....
