Re: engine cleanup...
get a can of degreaser and spray it on scrub with a little brush on hard spots then hose off... just blow all watter out of low ares on the engine an avoid getting the electrics wet.

Re: engine cleanup...
go get some castrol super clean, its in a purple bottle. spray your engine with it and let it soak for a while(untill it dries) then go back and spray it down again, then wash the engine with a high presure washer.

Re: engine cleanup...
shouldnt you cover the carb with a plastic bag or something first? Its ok to just go through with a pressure washer?

Re: engine cleanup...
^^^Yeah, you don't want to get any water down the carb....a plastic bag or a few oily rags will do the trick.

Re: engine cleanup...
plastic bag the carb and dist...
then seafoam the entire motor inside and out (yes you can run it through your engine too... thats the great thing about seafoam). change oil, after washing down the exterior of the motor and you should be good to go. |
Re: engine cleanup...
I use the Super Clean and one of those $100 1300 psi pressure washers. Just cover the carb and dizzy, If it's really thick, clean it while the engine is warm (but not HOT).I use a garden sprayer to spray on the cleaner ( no pumping on a trigger and it's all-position) May take 2 rounds, may have to scrub/scrape the extra heavy stuff, but it's worth it to be able to work on a clean motor.

ive used a pressure washer on mine , several trucks and its always worked well.. you can use any decent commercial grade cleaner even gunk is good.. like others said cover the carb and distributor well and ya should be good to go
