Hi,must I connect the gauge hose to the "original oil pressure sender" location or is it some other place on the engine it is possible/easier to mount it ?

You should also still have the original sender on the engine because it has a fuel pump power supply circuit through it.

The fitting that the original sender screws into is not very strong and adding more fittings to that combination could be troublesome.

There should be a plug in the block above where the oil filter area on the drivers side of the engine that would be a good place to connect to.

The reason that most oil pressure senders and gauges are attached to the top of the engine, IS so that you can see that you have oil pressure throughout the engine. It would be the weakest point at the top and away from the filter housing.

Right here. Where that brass tube screws in. It should have a allen wrench plug in it.

Thank,s boys.Looks like an hexagon bolt just above the oilfilter adepter on the pictures. Is it this plug I can use ?

Hi, New to the forum but I also want to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge on my 1993 4X4 2500 454. Is there any where on the block to connect a gauge other than where the stock sender is located ? Thanks for any help. Joe.

There is one at about the same spot as the small block V8s just above the oil filter.

Also on the drivers side of the block, at the very front of the block, at the bottom of the block, just above the oil pan, on the 7.4 liter (454CID)

Thanks, The reason I was looking for another place to connect the gauge because I was told that the stock sender has something to do with the fuel pump. Can I bypass the stock sender or is that a bad idea ?
I recently retired and bought the truck to haul stuff but now I want to fix it up a bit besides it gives me something to do for fun. Tinker around in the garage

Leave the stock sender in placed.

The stock oil sender does have a fuel pump circuit through it, which is a redundant power supply to the fuel pump.

Other option is to put a tee in where the stock sender goes, and hook both the new gauge and the factory sender into the tee. Then they are both seeing the same thing, and no lines down at the bottom of the engine to get hung up and broken.
