Am I getting ripped off?

I just bought a lowering kit from performanceonline.com and I got 3" drop springs in front and 5" in back, hardware, front and rear sway bars, trac bar, and 4 drop shocks. I don't want to install this stuff under a car port so I took it to a couple shops around town. I also want my hooker headers installed but they require the zbar to be modified. This shop just did a '67 Chevy and had to do the zbar mod so they know how. They said that they would install everything, do an H-pipe and turndowns (i have two cherry bombs and just want to dump it behind the cab) and align it for $800. Should I be able to get all this work done for less?

That is what I was thinking but to me $800 is a lot of money. Anyone else? Is it worth $800?

Wherever you go, make sure to get a complete scope of services, including prices for the work to be performed. Better yet, you provide a detailed scope of work to the shop, so there is no misunderstanding of what needs to be done. Getting a quote that is apples-to-apples is very important. Also, I would check with shops that specialize in vintage vehicles. In closing, I don't think $800.00 is out of line for the amount of work that needs to be done. Good luck with the project and make sure to post pictures of the progress.

The guy has a 67 camaro big block in the garage (one of his personal old camaros) and he just did a slam on a '67 a week before I brought mine in. He did disc brakes on all four corners including drop spindles, ran the lines, installed the power booster assembly on the firewall, and he charged the guy $500 for the brake job. I don't know the complete bill but from what I know about him he does good work (been in business 19 years) and he specializes in suspension work (ie airbags and drops, lifts, leveling kits, etc.)

$800 doesn't sound to bad. If you don't have a c-notch then not to much involved in putting the coils up front and back. The headers may be more a pain depending on how much room you have. The problem with any vehicle is sometimes the things that should only take and hr to fix turn into 3 or 4. My luck is i start tearing something down and its old so i break something else and have to fix that too or forgot to account for someting else. If you have the tools, just do one thing at a time. I would put the coils up front first should take about hr or so, then another day do the back etc. When i first got mine i was working out in the dirt no cover, so a carport isn't so bad.
