need help

I am rebuilding the top end of my 307. I was using a pre-oiler to pump oil to the top end. When I took out the tool the rod assembly on the top of the oil pump came out too!! What can I do other than tear down the motor to replace the pump? Any suggestions?

well uy have to drop the pan. pul out the oil pump and get a replacement rod. because that rod came off now whille it snot running it probab ly just saved ur engine. gm had the brilliant idea of using a teflon collar to hold that rod to the oil pumo. biw theres a replacement rod that has a steel collar. ur oil pump didnt break its just the teflon colar due to 30 yrs of hot oil and heat broke into pieces. get a new oil pump rod and u might as weel get a new oil pump while ur in there thye are cheap.
