Help with single headlight grille to composite
Hey guys. I've been looking around around and I want to convert my single headlights into composite style.
I have a '93 Sierra 2wd.. I'm pretty sure that I can find all the lights and a grille and whatnot at my local salvage yard. I also found a wiring harness at LMC trucks that will keep the low beams on when I switch to high beams for $30..so I might just order that...or also grab the wiring for the ones when i go get everything. Will the grille fit flush? I'm thinking of ordering a chrome grille off of LMC truck also, and just getting the lights, mounts, and stuff at the salvageyard. My brother said that i'd need to order some radiator support thing? which he said was about $50. anythoughts? |

Any help? :(

Re: Help with single headlight grille to composite
I don't think you'd have to change your radiator core.

Re: Help with single headlight grille to composite
I know folks to go the other way, composite to real headlights and don't remember them needing a core support. Unless someone else chimes in, the best I can think is that no you don't need it, but check while your stripping parts and see if there is anything that is mounted/welded to the composite core support that you don't see on the regular support.
Good luck and keep us informed in how it worked out for you. |

Re: Help with single headlight grille to composite
I've never even looked at how the grill is mounted on my trcuk, but I saw this and thought it might help. This place also sells the complete kit with grill and headlights, I just couldn't find it right away.

Re: Help with single headlight grille to composite
Check out http://www.jegs.com/i/Anzo/018/111004/10002/-1 . I put a set of these in my 98. They come with bulbs, headlights and mounting/adjusting assembly. The bulbs a low end, I put a set of Sylvania Silver Stars in.

Re: Help with single headlight grille to composite
I'd bet the core support doesn't need changed. When I started out on my crew cab project, I had just the single headlight on each side. Then I switched to the dual setup (sealed beam, not composite) and all the threaded holes were there. If I remember correctly, it seems someone told me that the composites and the quad sealed beams were interchangeable, as far as mounts go.

The owner of that site has a cool diesel suburban and hangs out on the 88-98chevy section of the dieselplce.com
Hope it goes well, post some before & after pics. |

Re: Help with single headlight grille to composite
You don't have to spend the $30 on that "Hi 4" conversion kit, it's fairly easy to do with parts store stuff, and from what I hear the kit is not as good as a relay. I think I can get the relay number off mine and all the wiring info, when you get ready.
