rearend diff. anyone running a spool?
 

i just recently have grown the intrest to make my both back tires spin but the posis that i see are so much and i know that they help on a car that your going to be turning with but are there any of you out there that have tried running a spool instead of a differential, i was looking them up and they are only about 150 opposed to having to spend about 500 on an auburn diff.

got a buddy who runs one and it does just fine, I wouldnt recomend it on a daily driver but on a weekend cruiser I'd so go for it. That's what I'm going to do with my 77 K5

I run one. I bought an axle kit from Moser and it came with it. I don't drive the truck that much, and I don't think it hurts anything, but I really don't like the sound of scrubbing tires everytime I turn.

You can run a spool on the street, but upgraded axles are a good idea as they see a lot of twisting stress around corners. Have to be real careful in the rain too.
Have you looked into the powertrax lockers? I run one in my truck and they're only $300, they install with no special tools and you don't even have to pull the carrier out (no gear setup). I beat the crap out of mine with 450+hp and a 4 speed.:)

dude you wont like it. weres out tirs so fast its mad for dirt and drag. i use on on the race car but not for the street. if you had to make a sharp turn the rear will push the front tires forward even if you had it maxed out.youll still tur but not well at all. if you rive it in the rain fish out of the water. youll be all over the rad if you beak trac. there fun but not they way to go, summit had cheap posis or look for a wrecked fwd they have them. sorry for the bad news lol :chevy:

300 isnt too bad the ones i have seen range from 450 to 500 thats why i was trying to take a cheaper way out where did you get it so cheap jegs? also what rear is it that the truck came with 28 or 30 spline? everything was stock on the truck when i bought it and i know it was a pain in the a$$ when i bought the gears for the rear end.
