Nice looking start.. truck looks to be in great shape... looks even better sitting on the floor.. Areyou going to do a Z or a crossmember drop?

Re: layen the 86 out

yeah i think a z is needed very badly. ill do it when i pull the motor its a little tired. and i still have to get drop spindels for the the front too. this truck is so clean! the body is so stright, i think is the strightest i have ever had lol.

Re: layen the 86 out

Re: layen the 86 out

man these trucks are hard to lay, well not hard just a lot of $hit in the way. exhast, trany, crossmember. also the trans is like an inch frome the trans tunnel. so when i do the z i have to drop the motor instead of cutting the floor out. i think its easyer to fab new motor mount vs the floor what you think?:chevy:

Re: layen the 86 out

looks good what is done to the front to get it that low
x2 on more pic's and details of 2 link rear
I'm thinking along the same lines as you for a 2link rear
run a 2x2 bar with a 2x3 (block) welded to top
in your pic is pinion current at height
thanks

Sweet man looks good!

Re: layen the 86 out

yeah the only bad thing is you have to set up your pinion angle @ ride highth. but its a simple system and i works well. when its layed out the pinion angle is about 9 10 degrees down hill. unies are alomost binding. if i ran longer ones it wouldnt be sutch a dreastic change with the pinion and wheel base movement. but its hard to do that on thes trucks with the frame dippen up and down. at first i had them under the frame till i noticed that i would need some drop block to aid to the drop, so i just moved them were the leaf hangers go. i built mine for 100 and some change. man i m definetly need to z her badly!!lol about 3'' to give her a nice rake. sucks for the rear but still look nice with some 20's. ill get some more pics for you guys on that 2link.

Re: layen the 86 out

are you laying down a bead when you weld or just a succession of spot welds?

Re: layen the 86 out

ok help me out if i do a 3.5 or 4'' z it will lay hard but.. it will sit a little racked. whitch is ok the problem is i realy dont want to cut into the cab floor. i think if my musurments are correct ill have to drop the engine down and make a new tranny crossmember, witch is easy. i just dont want to go too over board with this truck lol. but still be a nice ride. what you guy think?:chevy:
