trucks with impala ss wheels?

I found a great deal on a set of '94-'96 Impala SS 17x8.5's. I don't think i've ever seen them on a square bodystyle truck. Does anyone have any pics?

I am pretty sure captkaos has them on a project (or shop?) truck. Find one of his posts and there might be a link in his signature.

I've got a set in the garage I am considering using on my '86. A couple things you should know if you decide to go this way.

First, there is a fairly limited range of low profile tire sizes for a 17" wheel. The stock ImpalaSS tire is 255/50 which is about 27" total diameter. You can squeeze a 285/40 on there, but the diameter will only be 26". If you don't mind a higher profile, 275/60 is a common size for SUV's and there are several high performance sport tires available. The overall diameter for this size tire is 30". If you want really fat tires, you can still get a 315/35 tire, but you will need to get the wheels widened at least 2".

Next is these wheels have a 6mm offset, which means about 5" backspace. There should not be any clearance isues, but this makes it look like the wheel is pulled into the wheelwell. If you want tucked, this is good. If you want edge of the tire even with the fender, then you will probably need some spacers.

There is a mid 80's long bed truck in my neighborhood that has ImpalaSS wheels on it. I will try and get a picture next time I see it.

Here are a couple pics I had saved on my hard drive -

thanks for the good info guys. I don't think they look too bad, it'd be a cheap way to get some 17's on there.
If you see the longbox with the 17's snap a pic if you can.

You could run the 255/50/17s in the front and a set of 275/50/17s in the back. I put this on my 91 Silverado and am getting a set of 17" rims with the same setup for my 84 GMC. The 275/50s are a 28" tire and work real well for daily driving. The Nitto tire line has them in the Nitto 450S series.

Don't ask me what size tires they are, 'cause I don't know anything about this truck other than I see it in the neighborhood from time to time.

Awakened from the dead...

Is $350 a good price for these wheels with usable tires?

I would say so. These wheels usually sell for about $75 each in good used condition with the center caps from what I have seen. They used to be available from the dealer new for about $630 a set of 4, but I think they have been discontinued now.

Truck looks great.

You can pick up an 88-up new body style truck rear end and put it in there.

glock35ipsc just did this with his project Fred. They are a little wider and will push the rear tires closer to the lip so the front & rear look closer to the same.

It takes a little work but you can get better gearing and a posi for your truck at the same time too.
