Power Steering Problem
I ahve A 67 chevy 1/2 ton truck that had manual steering. I took a pwr steering box off a 71 chevy to convert mine to pwr steering. when I tried to mount it the box was hitting the frame in between the mounting holes, so its not mounting flush. has anyone had this problem? and if you know how to fix it? id put spacers in it but i dont know if that would be safe. any help is appreciated. thanks!

Re: Power Steering Problem
you might search around on here some it may even be in the FAQ section but yes the frame is different for power streering vs manual. Most people I believe will heat and dimple the area where the box goes to make it fit in the frame. I have not done this but remember reading about it.

Re: Power Steering Problem
You should only have to notch the bumper bracket. That is what kept the steering box from moving forward enought to line up on my '68. I just removed the bumper bolt at the frame & it is still hanging there waiting for me to grind the notch & re-bolt.
