Re: rear end help
Rear ends don't generally break under stock horsepower You just need to change the gears to match the use of the truck.

Re: rear end help
Is it a regular 12 bolt?
If so it should handle any abuse a 350 can dish out. As for rebuilding get a set of gears, a quality posi unit, ( i bought an Eaton) and a master rebuild kit and put it together or pay someone to set the gears up for you. You should be able to buy all that and pay for setup for around $800 to $1000. Check the axel bearings while you are there also. |
Re: rear end help
I built mine up with Moser axles, Eaton posi, Richmond 4.10s and a good rebuild kit. thats pretty much bullet proof even on slicks :metal:

Re: rear end help
the same rears were used regardles of inline, V-6, small block, or big block... it'll handle a 350. I've seen stock peg leg 12 bolts hold up to a LWB truck in the high 12's in the quarter.

Re: rear end help
Here is an article tht compares some rears to another. There is discussion for the 12 bolt rear ends and sort of a history too. May help to answer a question for you. Have fun.http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ord/index.html
