Power Brake Mstr Cyl / Booster Angle - Too Much?
3 Attachment(s)
I just finished getting the new power brake master cylinder booster installed. I looked at a couple of other swap threads on the board, and mine looks like it's angled pretty far down to the front. Is that the correct orientation? It's also a bit off side to side as if it was twisted. That could be due to the pedal hanger being a bit messed up. Any ideas on whether to continue or do I need to look for something wrong?
Thanks. |

You have the bracket upside down

On my 69 it's tilted also. I asked about this before and it's normal.

Mine is out of a '71 and it isn't that tilted. I'd post a picture but don't have time right now.

looking at the ones we have here in stock, you have it correct. I was wrong. but it sure looks down alot. the bracket is 1/4" per 4" slope approx, which is pretty hefty

Why are they tilted so much? That's pretty odd. Leaves a guy to think he could get more fluid in it if it was level.

I don't have a clue I would just be guessing. I just checked our 72 delivery van and it is tilted down to the front also and it just bolts to the firewall without a bracket. I am sure someone knows why.

It may be that if the booster were straight, it could hit the hood when you lowered it??? And they figured that there would be enough fluid to stop the trucks even with the m.c. tilted (providing there's "no" air in the lines). It's worked well for many years. |

thanks everyone. so long as that's how it should be I'll go on. it looked so far off that I figured I had done something like flip the bracket.

Another hypothesis; The booster may be angled so that it is level when the truck is loaded. |

Bothers me too but it's bone stock....I looked at my bracket thinking it might flip but the pattern looks like it might not line up the other way. Anyone tried that yet?

But, GM engineers just plain "over engineered" this contraption. Too many links, rods, swivels and angles. :( |
