OEM gauges For sale

No, there aren't for a truck, but I guess they could be used in one.

They're out of a 67 Camaro.

These seem to be between $250 and $450 on ebay. Mine are completely unknown condition I'm thinkin $225 + ride.

are they functional, and do you have the console harness to go with? sorry to lowball, but if you can do $125 shipped, i'm in. (90740)

I have no idea if they work or not. I'd be glad to do some testing if somebody can tell me where/how to do it. I,\ve got a multimeter, but no sending units for the gauges....LOL

No harness, sorry. :(

I'm gonna let 'em ride for a while before I drop the price that much, but I'll keep your offer in mind.

ok. 10-4. i'll wait.

regarding testing:

oil gauge - use a mityvac to supply pressure to the port, or tie into your stock oil pressure port on your engine

clock - 12v to the terminal, and ground the case/back of clock. second hand should start ticking.

fuel - 12v to + terminal, ground to other should cause it to read full. pull ground, and it should read empty. still need to ground the case.

amps - can only check for continuity w/ ohm meter to see if it's fried or not. otherwise, it needs to see amp flow in either direction to show charge or discharge. not sure how to do this other than tying into a charge line off the back of your alternator to your battery + post and start the truck.

hope that helps... (and let me know if i'm wrong here somewhere... hahaha)

Thanks! I'll see what I can do.
One question, are you sure about the fuel/temp gauges? (12v to the terminal) I was thinking (the fuel gauge at least) had a resistor wire running to it?

Oil, clock, amps shouldn't be a problem though.

Thanks!

Re: OEM gauges For sale

they work off a variable ground concept. 12 volts through the gauge, then through the sending unit (either fuel tank or coolant) to ground. the ground changes as the sending unit changes. for example, when the fuel tank float raises (or lowers), the resistance within it changes, altering the ground. open circuit (no ground) makes the unit read max (or full in that example).

same with coolant sending unit... as temp increases, resistance to ground (intake manifold) changes.

hope that helps.

FYI I have a 67 RS, and could really use these. they won't get hacked up and installed into my truck.

please keep me in line on the list.

FYI... I got it backwards in the first post: grounding the gauge makes it read low(min), while the open circuit makes it read max.

again, hope that helps!

Cool! Thanks for the info Rupdog. I'll try to get 'em tested tomorrow and post up the results.

Our internet has been down all day today so I couldn't get here to read the testing process you provided, or I might have gotten it done today...

Re: OEM gauges For sale

Btt..
I did get to test the oil press gauge and it works fine. (I used compressed air)

The clock on the other hand, will not turn either by hand or with 12v. I didn't try really hard to get it to turn for fear of breaking some internal whatnots, but I just wanted it to be known.

Open to offers.
